Lenovo Canada X120e Shipping Woes

I've been posting about this problem in several different threads, so information has been rather scattered. So thought I'd open this new thread on this specific issue.

I'm amongst one of those who ordered an X120e in Canada and my shipping date has been constantly being pushed back, and the shipping dates are also a damn mess. Some who ordered later are getting earlier estimates, whereas others who ordered earlier are getting pushed to much later. In my case I was given 3 different dates, 21st, 26th, and April 12th. Some calling in are getting random dates as well, a different answer just by calling in a day after.

The reasons also vary as well, ranging from CPU configuration issues to Bluetooth problems.

Frankly, I'm very disappointed. I just ordered a T410 for a friend about a few weeks ago before my own, and that one came just fine, nowhere as bad as this one.

I'm really on the fence to cancel this, but I really wanted this machine to move back to a Thinkpad.

I guess I will simply return it as soon as I get it, there is a limit to laughing in the face of customers. I will never buy anything Lenovo again and I strongly encourage everyone to do the same.

Does anyone know if I will have to pay restocking fees when I return the laptop, anyone had a return experience?

Tired of their lame excuses and not one person getting the story straight, Thursday despite it saying 3/10/11, was told shipping on 3/17/11, called on Friday to get update, told by the same guy, 3/18.11, when I questioned him, saying the day before he told me a different day, he goes " 17/18, its just one day". So this morning, as I had time to think about it over the weekend, I phoned up to cancel. I first asked for an updated and this guy tells me, it is now 3/20. So I told him, I am tired of delayed shipping and a csr telling me there is a problem with the cpu configuration that I want to cancel and go elsewhere. He says no problem,, then goes, I can help you, if you dont get the bluetooth option and cancel this order, I might get it sooner than 3/20.. I did byte my tongue, rather than loosing it and told him, see "this is what I am talking about, you have the order in front of you and no where did i order the bluetooth option, Just please cancel this order"....

These things are just bad omens for me, when it comes to pc stuff. First i have heard cpu issues/configuration, then on other boards, reports of extremely loud noise/stuttering and a melted speaker. So this laptop is not for me, if it takes forever to get the d*** thing, I could imagine, how long turnaround time would be on a repair.

SO there you go boys/gals, that is what is called OffShore Outsourcing, nobody has a clue, csr's poorly trained, language barrier, etc. I will be complaining because I waisted so much time waiting and the anticipation. Unless ppl voice their opinion, big companies will outsource like that. unless they keep loosing sales for those exact reasons.

So Lenovo lost my sale, and others who I could have persuaded will go elsewhere.

I have an older friend who is higher up in the IBM chain and I will be enlightening her on this whole fiasco.

Sad cuz I liked the deal and size, but suspecting h/w issues is enuf for me to steer away.

Thought the Thinkpad is much more reliable machine from Ex-IBM ppl. Oh well, now I got to bestbuy to buy something similar.

There's usually kinks in the system when you introduce a new system. You can wait or not. I don't know what calling often does to speed things up.

Fair enough, but can you explain why calling 3 times can result in 3 different estimated ship dates?

I just emailed them again, and now I'm promised March 18.

I'm in the same boat as you. I had to cancel my first order, because my order was delayed from the March 15th to April 12th due to the Bluetooth configuration problem so I had to make a new one without the module. The order status for the new one says March 18th for ship date, but I called them today and they weren't able to provide me a tracking number, because the item hasn't even been shipped. I highly doubt they'll be able to ship it in 4 days, so I expect them to miss the March 18th mark as well.

You probably get multiple answers because like you management hasn't clued the CSRs in either.

Why would you expect a tracking number for an item that's supposed to ship the 18th on the 14th?

"Ship date" indicates the date that Lenovo generates a UPS label for the package, not the "delivery date," which is when it should be on your doorstep. Typically, you get the tracking number on or a day after the ship date (unless it ships earlier, which happened to both my orders with Lenovo). Delivery to California then takes approximately 1 week--may be slightly different for Canada.

I see, so the March 18th ship date is probably around the time they're are going to actually have the item packaged and shipped on their part. Since I made the new order on the 11th I'm guessing it takes them around a week to put the order together and do all the paperwork.

I guess it's going to be a longer wait than I expected.

That's a pretty typical cycle--my T500 took exactly 1 week to build and ship, and then 1 more week for UPS to get it through customs and deliver it. My X120e took exactly 2 weeks total as well.
