8540W Model Codes?

On the HP's website I can view only a few of the models.

Where can I find the entire list of models and specs that HP have?

I need to other another laptop and my company would only allow me to pick a model not a customized laptop. (IT Policy..)

I see 1 "recommended", then 5 more when clicking "additional models".

Might as well go with this one then.

You could also try calling a sales rep, maybe there are more available.

There's 13 different models in HP Finnish site:

HP EliteBook 8540w -mobiilityasema Ratkaisut PK-yrityksille

If that link works, I don't expect you to understand everything but main specs are universal

But not all models are sold in the same countries. For example, in my country I cannot buy knight427's monster: the XT914UA. So it depends on user's country. Of course, tilhasbb can order an US model or even a finnish model (that would be very freak ), because warranty is international (save for a few countries, AFAIK), and then exchange the keyboard for the specific one for his country. But he (actually his company) still must pay international shipping, so I think his bosses won't agree

I'm looking for the most powerful laptop :P

Processor i7-840QM => i7-640M => i7-820QM => i7-740QM

Ram : 4Gb +

Harddrive SSD 256 GB

Screen: 1920x1080

NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M graphics with 1 GB dedicated GDDR3 video memory

OR

NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M graphics with 1 GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory

Just call them. We don't have access to a hidden stash of model numbers (at least I don't). You could also try their outlet if you are OK with a refurb. You'll have more options at least.

Also, 640M is a dual-core CPU. It can be faster at certain tasks due to it's higher clock speed, but the quad-cores will win out when doing multiple things or when using a program written to take advantage of multi-threading.

Here are the best two I found

XT970UA

No SSD

And

QP523US

No 1920x1080 screen

Keep looking, just a couple later gives QN407US or QQ261US which seem to fit your criteria.
(I assume you found the list in the part catalog. If you didn't find that list, I opened your last link in two tabs, then in one of the tabs, I set the country to Canada, explored the "hiearchy" tab, and found a list of model numbers with abbreviated components. Then one by one I copied each attractive model number to the "quick search" field in the other tab to see its details. Some SSDs might be listed with unusual drive sizes like 160 or 256, so that is a string to look for in the list.)

I assume using the country control in the parts list will list only the models that have been available in that country.
(Speculation: But I can imagine it might include models that were bought by a large special order, or might include models with service contracts in that country but were bought in the US.)

Of course, a popular or problematic model number may no longer be available.
(Speculation: For example, I imagine that could happen if HP bought the SSDs at bulk discount, and have run out of the SSDs, or the SSD manufacturer no longer makes the model that HP tested and approved, or the SSD was later found to have manufacturing problems. Or I can imagine an HP that only ships non-CTO models to your city in large crates to amortize customs, handling, and representatives' salaries and overhead, and doesn't expect enough orders to ship another large crate.)

I'd expect an HP representative to be able to get better information on whether unlisted models are currently (back-)orderable.
(Speculation: if one representative is intent on moving current stock that is already in country rather than back-ordering, you could try mentioning you are also considering a competing company notebook if this one is unavailable.)
